The New 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat and Scat Pack Widebody

Last month, Dodge revealed widebody versions of its most powerful Charger models—the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and the 2020 Charger R/T Scat Pack. The widebody comes standard on the SRT Hellcat and is optional on the Scat Pack.

We'll be able to order these 2020 Charger models at our Richmond, CA Dodge dealership later this year, but in the meantime here's what we can expect to see when these new widebody Chargers arrive.

2020 Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody — Fastest & Most Powerful
The 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V-8 engine offering best-in-class 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. The Hellcat's mated to a standard TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, runs 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds, and delivers a top speed of 196 mph. And all of that, makes this Hellcat the fastest and most powerful mass-produced sedan in the world.

Performance Improvements
To begin, 2020 Charger widebody models have a 3.5-inch wider body that allows for new 20-in by 11-inch Carbon Black forged wheels that ride on wider, stickier Pirelli 305/35ZR20 tires.

The Hellcat Widebody has the following improvements to thank for its enhanced performance numbers:

  • SRT-tuned Bilstein three-mode adaptive damping competition suspension
  • New electric power steering (EPS)
  • Stiffer springs — 32% stiffer than previous model
  • Larger sway bars — expanding from 32 mm to 34 mm in front and from 19 mm to 22 mm in the rear
  • Retuned shocks with revised valving
  • 4 race-inspired technologies
    • Race Cooldown: cools the supercharger/charge even after the engine is shut off by running an intercooler pump and radiator fan
    • Line Lock: engages the front brakes to hold your Charger in place, but leave the rear wheels free for a burnout
    • Launch Control: manages tire slip while launching the vehicle to allow for consistent straight-line acceleration
    • Launch Assist: uses wheel speed sensors to watch for driveline-damaging wheel hop at launch and modifies the engine torque to regain full grip
  • 15.4-inch Brembo brakes — when compared to previous model, stopping distance is 4-ft shorter (107-ft) from 60-0 mph

Thanks to standard EPS, drivers of the Hellcat experience better grip, better handling and better steering. Drivers can personalize their EPS and Drive modes through an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen that allows them to control their horsepower, transmission shift speeds, steering, paddle shifters, traction and suspension settings.

Interior Updates
Albeit atypical, the Hellcat is a four-door family sedan after all, so it stands to reason not all upgrades were made to performance.

Standard on the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody are French live-stitch accents throughout the instrument panel and doors, plus additional unique interior elements and soft-touch finishes to refine the high-performance cabin. These elements include:

  • Available new Carbon & Suede Package which adds real carbon fiber accents to the instrument panel and console bezels and Dynamica suede headliner, sun visors and A-pillars
  • New SRT Hellcat instrument panel badge is unique for the 2020 model year with a black and red finish
  • Standard heated and ventilated Laguna leather front seats feature embossed Hellcat logo – available interior color combinations include Black, Black/Sepia or Black/Demonic Red
  • Heated, leather-wrapped SRT flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls and paddle shifters is standard or available in wrapped Alcantara
  • Fully electronic, performance-inspired shifter controls the standard TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission
  • Roomy center console storage compartment to keep personal items in reach

2020 Charger Scat Pack Widebody — Fastest & Most Powerful

Performance Improvements
