2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee: Connect Phone via Bluetooth, Use Navigation, Use Remote Start Function

In this edition of Hilltop How To’s, Jason “The Car Man” Flemming covers a few frequently asked questions on the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. One of the most customizable Jeeps on the road today, the Jeep Grand Cherokee can be outfitted so luxury dominates, equipped for superior off-road capability, or both. But regardless of how you outfit or equip your Grand Cherokee, it’s nice to know how to use the basic features available in this incredibly versatile midsize SUV. Let’s get started.

2018 Grand Cherokee: Set up Bluetooth for iPhone

Pairing your phone to your radio is simple to do and makes staying connected while driving easy to do. When your phone is paired you’ll be able to view your phone’s contacts on your Uconnect radio touch screen, view text messages, and even voice text while driving. Plus, once your phone’s paired you can play your phone’s music in your Grand Cherokee simply by selecting the Media icon. But before we get ahead of ourselves, here’s how to pair:

  1. From your Grand Cherokee’s Uconnect radio touch screen, select the Phone Icon from the toolbar (it’s the farthest icon to the right).
  2. Select Yes when the pop-up prompt appears asking if you’d like to pair your phone.
  3. From your smartphone, open up your Settings menu then turn on and select Bluetooth. Your phone will then search for your Grand Cherokee’s radio, which may take a moment. When Uconnect appears on your phone screen, your Grand Cherokee’s radio has been discovered.
  4. Select Uconnect on your phone screen.
  5. Once you select Uconnect, your phone will pair with your Grand Cherokee’s radio. You will be able to tell that your phone has paired to your radio (and not someone else’s) by matching the PIN — a six digit number that appears on both your Cherokee’s radio touch screen and on your phone. If the numbers match, then select OK on your phone and Yes on your radio touch screen.

Once you’re connected you can view and send text messages, and play your favorite music. You can even use your Grand Cherokee’s voice recognition command to do all of this completely handsfree. To use voice recognition instead of the radio screen, simply press the VR button (a profile icon with the initials VR) located on the left side of your Grand Cherokee’s steering wheel.

How to Use Navigation on 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Often customers ask us, "How do I use the navigation system?" Well, here you go! Finding your way has never been so easy.

  1. From your Grand Cherokee’s Uconnect radio touch screen, select the Nav icon from the toolbar (it’s the icon to the left of the Phone icon).
  2. Select the Where to? icon from the list of available options.
  3. There are several options to find directions but the best and easiest way to get to where you want to go is by typing in the address, so we recommend selecting the Address icon.
  4. Once you select the Address icon, select the Spell City button and type in the name of the city. Then type in the street and so on until your address is found.
Tip: By typing in the city first, your navigation will actually help you locate the street.

How to Use the Remote Start Function on 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Another frequently asked question our customers ask is how to have their favorite comfort features — heated seats, heated steering wheel, etc — activate with Remote Start. Ask and you shall receive.

  1. From your Grand Cherokee’s Uconnect radio touch screen, select the Apps icon from the toolbar.
  2. From the Apps menu, select Settings.
  3. From the Settings menu, use the scroll arrows located on the right side of the screen and scroll down to Auto-On Comfort.
  4. From the Auto-On Comfort screen, select how you’d like your comfort settings to perform: Off, Remote Start, or All Starts. By selecting Remote Start your heated seats and heated steering wheel will turn on with Remote Start. By selecting All Starts your heated seats and heated steering wheel will turn on every time you start up your Grand Cherokee.

We hope you found this video helpful. If you have any other questions about how to use the features we went over today or any other feature available in the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, stop by our Jeep dealership in Richmond and ask for Jason "The Car Man" Flemming.
